I found an opened copy on discogs for $7.50 ...

That's the highest asking price I've seen for a Klon. Seems they can be had for $750--$1200. A quick check of some recent auctions reveals that somebody actually paid $1499 for one--hard to imagine.
I've been gassing for one this past year, but just can't bring myself to pay those prices for a single stomp box.
It's sounding like the new one is getting pretty close to release, so it should be interesting to see what happens to the market for the "old" ones.

Good to hear Bill Finnegan is getting close to having a new model... John, I personally love the Klon but I wouldn't think of spending the same amount of a Fender amplifier, for an overdrive unit...

Jim - speaking of albums, do you have this Julie London album on vinyl? I've been looking for a copy of this for years. That is one scandalous cover, right up there with "Calendar Girl.". As a secondary concern (lol), I was just wondering if the music on it is up to the quality of "Julie is Her Name".

Yeah, that's precisely my train of thought regarding the cost.
I did recently have the opportunity to A/B one against a clone (ToneMonk Phoenix). Despite the proclamation of superior tone from the owner of the Klon, I didn't hear it...yet strangely, a part of me still wants one! They are so damn cool looking.
Alas, I'll have to wait for the new one and make an assessment based on the price point.

In regards to the graphic on the Klon, a bunch of them are without it. I believe Bill has stated that he finds the centaur graphic to be "faulty" or less aesthetically pleasing as the plain box. I have no idea what percentage have or don't have the centaur though, but it seems fairly common to see it both ways.

Yeah, the gold horseys seem to be the most desirable for "collectors"--at least they fetch the highest price--which seems odd to me as Bill has stated they are all the same on the inside. Of course, if there were fewer gold horseys made this would make sense, but in my admittedly limited observations, the iteration that seems to pop up the least is the silver horsey.
Which one do you have, Jim?

I don't know if I have the wrong amp(s)--a bunch of the blackface and tweed lineup--and my rational side agrees that $700 is a ridiculous amount for a "sound", but from the view of my irrational side, it's more than that. It's a beautiful, unique, out of production item that happens to be widely regarded as one of the best OD's produced--and I can afford it if I want. Obviously I'm conflicted over it to the point I haven't bought one (yet!).
On the other hand, the new one, by all accounts will be widely available and affordable.

And - I've never heard a Julie London record I didn't like and the musicianship is always stellar ... But, to me, "Julie is Her Name" is in a class by itself just because Barney Kessel is amazing throughout.

Yes, I have a turntable, and thanks for finding that - you recommended Julie London to me a long time ago and now LPs > Vocals > New Arrivals > Julie London is the first place I go when I go to Streetlight. Found a bunch of good JL albums there, but not "Julie" yet. I might just have to break down go to Discogs, but you don't get that "holy sh*t it's here" rush when you actually stumble across something you've been looking for. -

And as a vinyl lover I've been thinking of finally releasing something as an LP ... maybe a "Greatest Hits" ... But not for a minute, it will be a big project tracking down master tapes etc... -

I will admit that I spent about $100 to get an imported copy of Neil Young's Harvest Moon on vinyl, but I don't regret one penny of it. I'm amazed by how much that Hank Mobley one is - really high on my list would be No Room for Squares. But Blue Note has been reissuing a ton of their catalog, and lots of that fabulous hard bop stuff is freely available on 180g vinyl, brand new, and really inexpensive. I'm just patiently waiting for all the albums on my want list to show up.
I'd LOVE a greatest hits record on vinyl. I can only imagine what some of that stuff off of Heaven is Creepy would sound like in purely analog format.
Also, thank god I bought my Klon from Bill directly. It showed up and like, one month later he stopped making them. I'm notoriously fickle with my gear (although I've learned to be better), but the Klon is the only OD pedal I've never even considered selling. Well, that and my Resonant Manifold Drive, but that's a pedal I'll keep forever because they gave it to me for helping where I could in the process of bringing it to market.
